Merlyn gives teachers hands-free control of classroom technology through voice commands, remote control, and touch — helping educators save time, reduce technology-related stress, and stay focused on student engagement. Their solutions include Merlyn Origin for teacher computers and Merlyn Display for integrated interactive panels in schools.
The engagement
In one of the most extensive end-to-end projects Interface Division has ever done, we worked with Merlyn Mind over a multi-year engagement that started with defining tracking at the deepest levels for their hardware AI assistants deployed in school classrooms to assist teachers.
Unlike typical web applications, these devices are controlled through remote controls, touch screens, voice activation, and laptop-based interfaces — often in the same session. Working directly with the product team, we defined tracking goals extensively, as well as acquisition, activation, retention, revenue, and referral-based metrics frameworks to give the product organization a complete picture of acquisition and product usage.
From marketing site to hardware OS
Tracking ranged from the marketing website through product portals and into the hardware operating systems themselves. After specification, we worked with the engineering team to implement a robust framework that would analyze all relevant user behavior and activity using a combination of in-product databases, logging, event capture, and Google Analytics.
We also defined the entire data model for this event capture and produced dozens of Power BI dashboards to tap into the data and surface the analytics that had been specified and implemented.

At the end of the engagement, Merlyn Mind had an entire end-to-end analytics implementation spanning multiple SaaS applications and hardware-based devices — from first touch on the marketing site through daily classroom usage patterns on the devices themselves.
